The first 2 sketches for Inktober and the tools. The sketchbook is a Hannemuhle Nostalgie Sketchbook 11 & 1/2 x 8 inches. It comes in 3 sizes in both portrait and landscape formats. It is smooth like hot press watercolor paper and is especially great for drawing with ink. I used a Uniball Vision fine with black ink in the first sketch and the Sailor Fude De Mannen - Stroke Style Calligraphy Fountain Pen - Bamboo Green - Nib Angle 55 Degrees with Noodlers Lexington Grey ink for the other and the text for both. Both are inexpensive and great pens for sketching. I like the way I can get a varied line with the Sailor pen and Lexington Grey is my favorite ink for sketching. It is a warm grey, more subtle than black and has nice shading. Shading happens when the ink pools in different spots making the line darker in some places than others. I think that can add interest. Shading is more apparent with larger pen nibs especially with calligraphy type nibs. Only 29 more sketches to go for Inktober!
